History & Origin
When I was a young lad, my parents used to take me to their ancestral home, during the summer, holidaying on the island of Sri Lanka. Braving a few mosquito bites, and a sweltering heat that was a far cry from the weather in Kent, where I grew up, I was elated to enjoy exciting safari adventures, climbing trees by sparkling lakes, driving along emerald green hillside tea plantations, and racing down warm, white sands to take the first morning dip in the sapphire blue ocean. And when the heat and exhaustion took it’s toll on a slightly over-energetic young boy, I soon learnt that a lot of fun and activity soon requires a lot of nutrition and rejuvenation. And so, as I sipped my first taste of Coconut Water, straight from an orange coloured, fleshy tender coconut, lapping up every sip in the baking hot sun, desperately quenching my thirst, half way through a long day of adventure, I began to discover the fruitful sustenance of the island’s nutritional resources, and my taste buds began to enjoy a lifetime of infinite experience.
And so, growing up, it became apparent what delicious foods awaited me, and when, as a young man, I became an avid health nut, immersed in fitness training and keenly inquisitive to learn more about healthy living and nutrition, I once again discovered the wonders of natural, organic eating, and the many resources I could find upon a return trip to my ancestral home. When, in my twenties, I went travelling to the island again, I was keen to explore the benefits of coconut. As I travelled South Asia, fuelled by curiosity, I was awed by the range and diversity of uses coconut seemed to have amongst local communities and traditions. Coconut oil seemed, to me, a magic natural healer, used widely for traditional cooking, for skin rejuvenation and treatment, and popularly for hair health. I began addictively using it for everything, researching it, and trying it however I could. And soon, I was singing its praises to everyone I knew. I made sure all my family and friends knew just how great it was. I began telling my clients, as a fitness consultant, and, of course, stocked up on my trip back home (filling my mum’s kitchen cupboard, much to her dismay).
Ishara Organic was born
And so, Ishara Organic was born, as I soon realised that I had to start bringing some of this wonderful, natural produce to more people, and increase awareness at home, in the UK, about the many benefits for health and beauty, and the tasty possibilities for cuisine. I wanted to bring the best quality, organic coconut oil I could find, carefully selecting my source, making sure I was not only getting the highest quality raw, extra virgin coconut oil to be brought here, but also that the produce was being farmed sustainably and ethically, from a fair, regulated system that was 100% organic, and reliable. Having found what I wanted, I started my company, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Eager to encourage people, anyone, of all walks of life, to start living and eating healthy, and invest in good, wholesome, natural organic foods, I was set on starting an organic, heathy foods brand, to expand awareness, and spread my ethos. I arduously looked into good, natural foods, packed with taste, that could be brought to customers at home, and introduce them to the wide array of possibilities in healthy eating. Health and fitness have long been an integral part of who I am and how I live. Everyone who knows me knows that! But It wanted to spread this love and ethos to others, to provide not only a source of good, tasty, healthy natural foods for those keen to find these, but also a place of support and guidance, a community, for those learning and discovering ways of bettering their healthy and longevity, and increasing their sense of satisfaction, happiness and fulfilment in life – pursuing, in essence, Ishara Organic.
